SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL ! The specificity of D.L.S. is both in its set up and its size. Both were deliberately chosen to answer the many criticisms levelled at most linguistic stays organisations by French parents and schools alike.Linguistic stays are perceived to be expensive, the numbers of students too high to be adequately supervised, the selection of host families insufficient, the lessons poorly organised.... THE SET UP: D.L.S. is based both in France and in the U.K. The French office handle the contacts with the French schools, families...etc, and organise the transport and crossings. The U.K.office (D.L.S.is a U.K.-registered Limited Company) handle all the local arrangements, booking visits, accommodation, classrooms and teachers. All aspects of the courses are therefore organised directly (it is felt that intermediaries will, statistically, be the cause of additional problems, quite apart from generating extra costs). THE SIZE: The small group of teachers who, 15 years ago, created what was to become D.L.S., had all worked for the major linguistic stays organisations. They knew that having to send abroad a very large number of students virtually precludes guaranteeing a consistent quality of accommodation, supervision and teaching. D.L.S. offer only a limited number of places each year. We guarantee that the teacher in charge of the group has years of experience, is totally bi-lingual, will be staying with the group for the whole of the course, will closely monitor the lessons, families, activities... and can be reached 24 hours a day! No wonder D.L.S. courses are getting ever more popular. Four meaningful statistics: -for the last five years, our Summer stays have been fully booked by April. -more than 1/3 of our inscriptions are "return" students. -half the enquiries we receive come from families who have heard about D.L.S. from their friends, relatives, colleagues.... -D.L.S are again offering, this year, the cheapest all-in courses available in France. |
